News area athletes deliver at CNTC event

The G.I. Independent All-Area Central Nebraska Track Championships are always one of this area’s top regular-season events, providing a preview to approaching conference, district and state competitions.
The 2015 edition Monday was no exception and, once again, Albion News area athletes represented themselves and their schools very well.

The Boone Central/Newman Grove Cardinals toted home medals from seven events, topped by golds won by Catherine Weeder in the 400 meter dash and the relay quartet of Kyle Kramer, Cody Nelson, Damian Backus and Zac Glidden in the 4×400.
Riverside’s Karen Schmeits and Jacob Bauer of Spalding Academy were also medal winners Monday.

BC/NG Coach Kris Pestel noted how impressive the performances were in her eyes.
“I am so pleased with the performance of our athletes. Their efforts in this meet shows a great deal about their work ethic and internal desire to compete. There are only 1st-3rd place medals given in this meet and, in the 20 events we had participants, we were able to bring home medals in seven. We also had 12 season-bests in this meet!”
