The Boone Central/Newman Grove boys golf team placed fifth in the Lakeview Invitational held April 30 at Elks Country Club in Columbus.
The Cardinals were led by Parker Wallin, who added a ninth-place medalist finish to his season resume.
Scotus won the team competition with an 18-hole total of 329. Norfolk Catholic was runner-up with 343, followed by Lakeview (369), Elkhorn South (373) and Boone Central/Newman Grove (381) and Neligh-Oakdale (381).
Wallin fired a 41 on the front nine of the Elks layout, then closed with a 46 on the backside for a final 87. Card Joel Meyer just missed a Top 20 finish, coming in 21st at 93.
BC/NG’s junior varsity competed in the St. Francis Invite the same day, finishing 10th.
The host Flyers won the event with a 312 team score. Trevor Kosch (68), Riley Huettner (79) and Jake Arlt (81) of St. Francis led medalists.
Boone Central/Newman Grove finished at 454 over 18 holes. Scoring for the Card JV were Garrett Cornwell (103), Bryton Fowlkes (107), Mack Nelson (119) and EJ Ramirez (125).
