A worker at the new Prairie Breeze II Wind Energy Center died in an accident southeast of Elgin Wednesday when the crane he was operating tipped over in a pasture Wednesday morning, May 27.
Emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene after a call came into the Antelope County Sheriff’s office at 9:23 a.m.
The victim, Thomas L. Bates, 40, of Denver, CO, was operating a 90-ton rough terrain crane when it apparently came too close to the edge of the road a quarter mile north of the intersection of 527 Road and 100th Avenue in Antelope County.
Petersburg Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.
