Two head coaches who will be coaching on the sidelines for the last time, 72 graduated players from the greater Northeast Nebraska area and a marching band for the first time.
There will be plenty of storylines on Saturday for the 3rd Annual Red vs. White Northeast Nebraska All-Star Football Classic.
Dr. Jon Cerny of Bancroft-Rosalie will be leading the White team, while Crofton’s Tony Hoffman will direct the Red team when the two squads meet at Norfolk’s Veteran’s Memorial Field. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
Among the athletes competing for the White team in the 2015 edition of the NEN All-Star Classic are Zac Glidden, Michael Lipker, Colton Pelster and Garrett Temme of Boone Central/Newman Grove, Brayden Frauendorfer from Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family and Riverside’s Collin Martinsen.

In advance of the contest, 2,163 tickets were sold to Booster Club’s and corporate sponsors from throughout Northeast Nebraska. South and west stadium booths open at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, with adult tickets $7 and student tickets $5.
Saturday’s game will also be available on radio station 94 Rock (94.7 FM) and will have a live webcast: www.94rock.fm. The Norfolk Daily News is also streaming the game: www.norfolkdailynews.com.
For the first time, there will be a Northeast Nebraska All-Star Marching Band involved in the festivities. Seven high school band directors and 58 musicians will be on hand.
And, one final note. The head coaches will not be the only ones returning to the sidelines after stepping down from long-time positions. Boone Central/Newman Grove Coach Arnie Johnson will be a White assistant, with one more chance to coach four of the Cardinal athletes who helped him win a Class C1 state championship in his final game.
