Extreme heat through the first four days contributed to somewhat lower attendance at the 2015 Boone County Fair.
Daytime and afternoon activities had fewer spectators, and evening crowds were smaller than last year, said Dave Noble, fair board president.
The Shane Thome Memorial Races drew the largest evening crowd, estimated at 1,700 to 1,900, on Tuesday night, July 14.
Attendance at the country music concert on Wednesday night was estimated at 1,000.
