A 9-7 victory over host Wakefield in the American Legion Area 5 final July 28 clinched the district tournament championship and propelled Albion Cornerstone to the 2015 Legion State Tournament in Cozad.
Albion opened play in the state tournament this past weekend.

Albion Cornerstone took a 3-1 lead with a three-run third inning, but Wakefield stormed back with three runs of its own in both the fourth and fifth to go ahead 7-3. Cornerstone came right back in the bottom of the fifth to plate five runs and added an insurance marker in the sixth. Noah Valasek, who came on in relief of Colton Pelster to get the final two outs in the top of the fifth, earned the victory by shutting host Wakefield down in the final two frames.
