It didn’t quite go as planned for the Albion Cornerstsone Senior Legion team in last weekend’s Class B State Tournament at Cozad.
In their opener on Saturday, the Albion team had more hits than their Beatrice opponents, but they were unable to bring a run across the plate after the first inning and took a 7-3 loss.
In their second contest Sunday against McCook, which was a 2-0 pitcher’s dual, Albion Cornerstone had three hits but could not string them together and left runners stranded in both the second and fourth innings.
Albion’s Colton Pelster, above, had an outstanding state tournament. He hit a three-run home run in the first game, and allowed only five McCook hits in the second game.
