BC/NG girls run to initial 2015 victory

After a solid start in their own Boone Central Invite, the Boone Central/Newman Grove Lady Cardinals chalked up their first victory of the 2015 cross country season Friday at the Norfolk Catholic Invitational.
BC/NG, led by individual runner-up Ashlynn Baker, easily won the team title with 26 points. Wayne and Crofton followed with 40 each.

“Things went really nicely at Norfolk Catholic – we had kids step up and really run well,” praised Cardinal Coach Tom Dickey. “The girls did a fantastic job, winning their first meet of the season. Ashlynn ran a great race, with a very steady pace. Christina Stopak and Taylor Starman worked their way through the big field, made some perfect moves in the final 800 meters, and placed third and fifth.”
Along with the three top-ten finishes, Sheldon Beierman took 16th and Katie Goodwater placed 23rd to round out Card scoring.
