A total of 135 runners and walkers took part in the ‘Color Me A Cure’ run/walk event starting on Fairview Street at the Boone Central athletic complex last Saturday morning, Sept. 19. Participants had a choice of either the one mile or 5K distances, and could either walk or run.
The event, sponsored by Boone County Health Center’s Cancer Care Team, raised more than $4,000 to purchase gas cards for local patients undergoing cancer treatments. Organizers said the event was very successful, with good support from the the school, hospital, businesses and community.
