Village to seek bids on Main Street work

At the Oct. 6, 2015 Petersburg Village Board meeting, Clerk Stokes advised the board that Petersburg did not receive the grant for the Main Street project.
Chairman Thorberg stated, “I don’t see a reason to wait and apply for another grant. We might as well get it done.”
Clerk Stokes said the state will send a reply explaining why the village did not receive the grant.
Engineer John Zwingman added, “Grants are competitive and less than one-half get funded.”
The board directed Zwingman to write up the bid letting agreement. It was noted that only a couple of companies are doing this work.
Drainage issues in south Petersburg and the downtown park area were also discussed.
