Boone Central/Newman Grove girls cross country team claimed its second straight Class C State Championship on Friday, Oct. 23, at Kearney.
The Cardinals had three top 10 finishers and a total score of 39 to win the team race.
Ashlynn Baker led the way in fifth place with a time of 20:25.3. Christina Soto-Stopak was eighth with a time of 20:46.7, and Taylor Starman finished ninth in a time of 20:44.0. Rounding out the top four was Katie Goodwater in 38th place with a 22:10.8 clocking.
Other Boone Central girls competing were Jessica Weeder, 24:12, and Hannah Schmitz, 25:21.2.
Competing for Boone Central/Newman Grove in the boys Class C state meet was Thomas Hosford, who placed 40th with a time of 18:35.2.
