Albion City Council denied a claim last Tuesday night for damages from Dunes Motel owners Richard (Doc) and Yuko Holladay due to an extra early garbage pick-up in their neighborhood.
Doc Holladay had submitted the claim to “indemnify” motel guests who were awakened by the city’s solid waste pickup service at 4:16 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 13.
The complaint prompted city staff to contact Bud’s Sanitary Service, the city’s garbage collection contractor, and work out an agreement for trash pickup in the area of the motel at 7:30 a.m. or later in the future so motel guests won’t be disturbed.
