It might have been a below average year for new construction in Boone County if not for new wind towers.
Construction permits were issued for 13 wind towers, totaling $32.5 million, as part of the Prairie Breeze II wind farm in the northeast part of the county. That made up more than 84 percent of the county’s $38,469,730 in total construction value for the year.
