Public safety exercise set Saturday in Albion

A discussion-based public safety exercise is scheduled for Jan. 23rd in Albion. A goal of the exercise is to enhance collaboration between the Boone County Health Center, local public safety agencies, and the Valero Albion ethanol plant.
This exercise gives participants an opportunity to evaluate current response concepts, plans, and capabilities for a mass casualty incident occurring in Boone County, said Region 44 Emergency Manager Tom Smith. The exercise will focus on key local coordination, critical decisions, risk communications, public information and warning, and the integration of assets necessary to enhance a response to a mass casualty incident involving hazardous materials.
“Multiple agencies in our area will be participating in this exercise,” Smith said. “The target audience for this exercise is leadership from law enforcement agencies, fire departments, emergency medical service departments, Boone County Local Emergency Planning Committee, emergency management, hospitals, and ethanol industry personnel.”
