About 35 emergency responders, law enforcement, medical and Valero Albion personnel gathered for a training exercise on Saturday morning, Jan. 23, at the Cardinal Inn Conference Center in Albion.
Their purpose was to plan a response to a hypothetical emergency scenario at the Valero ethanol plant involving an accidental release of ammonia.
The safety exercise was intended to enhance collaboration on possible emergencies between Boone County Health Center, local public safety agencies and the Valero plant. Region 44 Emergency Manager Tom Smith led the exercise.
