Central Nebraska Corn Growers hold kickoff meeting in Albion

Guest speakers at the Central Nebraska Corn Growers kickoff meeting were, l.-r., Dave Merrell, Tom Briese and Scott Merritt.A new Central Nebraska Corn Growers Association held its kickoff meeting at the Albion Country Club Wednesday night, March 30, with 50 to 60 people attending.
The group’s objective is to provide a stronger presence and voice in promoting the corn industry, influence policy and educate consumers about the value of their product.
The Central Nebraska organization includes Boone, Platte and Nance counties, and it was formed through the past year by a core group of Nebraska Corn Growers Association (NeCGA) members living within those counties.
Guest speakers included Dawn Caldwell, government affairs at Aurora Co-op and a founding member of Common Ground; Scott Merritt, general manager of NeCGA; Tom Briese, candidate for the District 41 seat in the Nebraska Legislature, and Dave Merrell, current president of the Nebraska Corn Board.
