Major progress in planting

With favorable weather conditions during the past week, farmers in the Boone County area were making major progress on corn planting.
By Tuesday morning, May 10, corn planting was estimated at 90 percent complete in the area, while soybean planting was estimated at about 20 percent complete.
The area received about a half inch of rain Sunday night and Monday. This followed about three inches of rainfall April 27-May 2.
Statewide on Monday, corn planting was estimated at 53 percent complete, while soybean planting was 13 percent complete.
