Fick received 121 votes, while Steven Rasmussen had 119, Trevor VanDeWalle garnered 101, and Richie Beister received 98.
Albion voters passed a one-half cent local option sales and use tax by a wide margin, 314 to 115, so the sales tax will go into effect later this year.
The tax is expected to generate $200,000 per year, with half the proceeds helping to pay swimming pool bonds, 30 percent for fire department building, equipment and maintenance, and smaller shares to support the police building, city hall and library.
Boone County voter turnout was 42.9 percent.
