The 2016 American Legion Area 2 Junior district baseball tournament will be held July 8-12 at Leon Nelson Memorial Field at the Albion Sports Complex.
Seven teams will vie for a berth in the American Legion Junior State Tournament, competing in a double-elimination format.
Top seed David City will have an opening round bye. First round games Friday, July 8, will be #2 Stromsburg-Osceola-Shelby (SOS) vs. #7 Plainview (Gm 4, 3 p.m.), #3 Creighton vs. #6 Logan View (Gm 3, 5:30 p.m.) and #4 Battle Creek vs. #5 Albion Cornerstone (Gm 2, 8 p.m.).
Losers of Games 3 and 4 will open Saturday (Gm 6, 3 p.m.). In winner’s bracket contests, winners of Games 3 and 4 will meet (Gm 8, 5:30 p.m.) and the Game 2 winner will play David City (Gm 7, 8 p.m.).
The tournament will continue Sunday with loser’s bracket games at 3 and 5:30 and the winner’s bracket final at 8 p.m. Games Monday, July 11, will be at 5:30 and 8 p.m. and the tourney championship contest(s) will be Tuesday, July 12, at 5:30 and 8 (if necessary).
