Despite putting up a good fight in three competitive battles, the Albion Cornerstone Seniors fell short of adding to their win column in American Legion baseball action this past week.
Albion Cornerstone traveled to Norfolk Thursday, where the local Seniors dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Pender and the host team.
Pender tallied three late runs to edge Cornerstone 3-2 in a well-pitched contest by both sides.
The nightcap featured more offense, but a similar result, as Norfolk scored five times in the sixth inning to claim a 10-7 decision.
Late-inning runs by the opposition again doomed Albion Cornerstone Sunday in a 10-9 loss at Creighton.
The Cornerstone Seniors, playing shorthanded due to the Junior Area tournament in progress in Albion, again assumed a mid-inning lead with outbursts in the third and fourth innings, but Creighton rallied with single runs in the sixth and seventh to to notch the win.
