A new community organization is being formed in Boone County to help in times of disaster.
An organizational meeting of the East Central Nebraska Community Organizations in Disaster (COAD) will be held this Thursday, July 21, at 2 p.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, Albion.
COAD is a group that helps neighbors and community organizations make the best use of resources and manpower to effectively respond and help fellow citizens in times of disaster, such as tornado, flood or fire. This response can reduce the social and economic impact of a disaster.
COAD grew out of lessons learned from disasters in Nebraska and surrounding states. The meeting is sponsored by Region 44 Emergency Management Agency.
