Amy Zaruba to receive EMS Outreach Award

Amy Zaruba of Albion will be receiving the Excellence in Volunteer Preparedness Education & Outreach Award during the Lieutenant Governor’s Be Prepared Awards reception on Friday, Sept. 23, at 10 a.m. in the Nebraska State Capitol building.
Zaruba will be honored for her commitment to educating and promoting community preparedness. She is a paramedic with Albion Fire & Rescue, where she has served for 29 years. She is also chairperson of the Boone County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), and is involved in Region 44 CERT, RROMRS and Red Cross.
She was notified of the award by Ryan Lowry, state coordinator of the Citizen Corps/Medical Reserve Corps, Nebraska Emergency Management Agency.
