Boone County’s total budget and total tax request will both be higher this year, according to the budget form appearing this week in county newspapers.
A public hearing on the 2016-17 county budget will be held next Thursday, Sept. 8, at 9 a.m. in the courthouse meeting room.
The total budget of disbursements increases by only about $75,000 for 2016-17.
The county’s necessary cash reserve will increase by $410,744, or about 23.2 percent, from $1,765,111 up to $2,175,855 in the new budget year.
County property tax will also increase by $450,930 or 14.16 percent. Last year’s property tax request of $3,184,099 is rising to $3,635,029 under the new budget.
