Area farmers make good progress on soybean harvest

Boone County area farmers were making good progress on soybean harvest, with dry weather until Tuesday morning’s rain.
Soybean harvest in the area was estimated at nearly 50 percent complete by Tuesday morning. Some yield checks showed dryland beans running at 65 to 75 bushels per acre, with irrigated beans running 70 to 85 bushels per acre.
Corn harvest in the area was estimated at 12 to 15 percent complete. A yield check on dryland corn showed an average of 150 to 180 bushels per acre. Very little irrigated corn had been harvested.
