Cardinal senior Hannah Groth missed a trip to the 2016 Class C state golf tournament by the narrowest of margins Monday.
Groth placed 11th in the C-2 District tournament at Quail Run Golf Course in Columbus with an 18-hole score of 108. The final three state qualifiers tied for 7th through 10th with scores of 107.
Scotus won the C-2 championship with a 399 team total, qualifying for the state tournament, along with runner-up Shelby-Rising City (441) and Omaha Brownell-Talbot (442). Boone Central finished 8th in the C-2 competition with a 477 team total.
After firing a 55 on her front nine, Groth came in with a 53 on the back side. Teammates Ashley Mewhirter (26th) and Lyndsey Figgner (29th) also finished among the top 30 individual golfers.
