Gene Rankin, 81, of Spalding, passed away Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016 at his home, following a lengthy illness.
Gene is survived by his wife Lea Rankin of Spalding; seven children: Regina Rankin of Crawford; David (Sherol) Rankin of Omaha; Christopher Rankin of Plattsmouth; Jacqueline (Randy) Walkowiak of Ceresco; Luke (Allison) Rankin of Spalding; Nathan (Julie) Rankin of Spalding; Alexis Rankin of Billings, MT; 13 grandchildren; one brother: Richard (Joan) Rankin of Spalding; two sisters: LaVon Glesinger of Spalding and Janet Naughtin of Taylor; along with many other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, Oct. 10, 2016 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Spalding with Rev. Antony Thekkekara and Rev. James Murphy officiating. Military rites were conducted by the American Legion Post 299 of Spalding.
Following services, Gene’s body will be donated to the Nebraska Anatomical Board for the purpose of science. Interment will take place at a later date.
