Interior options for the Boone Central School construction project were considered by the school board at a special work session meeting Tuesday night, Oct. 4.
Flooring options for the new school addition occupied most of the discussion.
Many flooring types and styles for the new addition commons area and hallways were presented.
The initial guaranteed maximum price had included vinyl tile floor coverings for these areas, but the board also asked for proposals on stained/polished concrete and terrazzo floors.
Craig Gies of Sampson Construction explained advantages and disadvantages of each floor type. The total commons area/hallway floor surface is about 8,900 square feet.
Terrazzo floors would cost about $130,000 more for that area than polished concrete.
Gies and Sampson will bring the flooring price options back to the board. Architect Jim Berg reminded the board members they will need to make this decision within the next month so the flooring can be ordered and construction can proceed on schedule.
Also discussed were the surveillance camera and telephone systems, HVAC controls and a variety of other items.
