HEARING DATE is NOV. 21: planning board will hear permit requests for confinements near Petersburg

Hearings on two conditional use permit for hog confinements near Petersburg were scheduled by the Boone County Planning Commission during its monthly meeting Monday night, Oct. 24.
Applications for two Class I hog confinements, to contain up to 2,499 hogs each, have been filed by Oakland Farms, LLC, of Iowa Falls, IA.
One of the proposed confinements would be located approximately 2 1/2 miles west of Petersburg, and the other would be about three miles southwest of Petersburg.
Commissioners took information packets on the two permit requests for study, noting that the confinements appeared to meet the setback requirements. Permits from the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality have already been approved.
The public hearings are scheduled for Monday, Nov. 21, at 8 p.m. in the Casey building on the Boone County Fairgrounds.
