Construction began in mid-October for a new business buildng in downtown Petersburg.
This is a “spec building” being built with a trade or service business in mind. It is located on the west side of the Petersburg Post Office and on the north side of Main Street.
This is the second spec building to be built by the Petersburg Industrial Development Corp. (PIDC).The first was the shop building on the west side of Highway 14 where Dan Henn is located with Rae Valley Repair.
The new building is 42 feet wide by 100 feet long overall. The front (south) portion has office/retail space at street level, while the north portion has shop/warehouse space at alley level.
“We hope to work with an entrepreneur who needs a facility like this to come to this area and start a business,” said Doug Koch, PIDC president.
The building will have a wood frame and metal exterior structure. It is being built by local contractors, and all materials are being purchased locally. B & S Concrete poured the concrete, and Levander Construction will be framing the building in the next stage.
