Following a superlative senior season, Boone Central’s Christina Stopak was honored with selection to the Nebraska Coaches Association 2016 Class C All-State list in cross country.
Stopak concluded her 2016 campaign with a fourth-place finish in the Class C race at the Nebraska State Cross Country Championships at the Kearney Country Club. Her state time of 20:22 was the fastest in Cardinal program history on the University of Nebraska-Kearney course.
Stopak never finished out of the top five in 2016 meets. She opened the season running third in the Boone Central Invitational in 20:00 (Boone Central #2 all-time), then placed second in the Norfolk Catholic Invitational and third at the O’Neill Invitational.
Stopak ran off three consecutive runner-up finishes in the Boone Central Individual Invitational, West Holt Invitational and Mid-State Conference Championships, leading up to the Class C-2 District. Running on her home course at the Albion Country Club, Stopak claimed the first gold medal of her high school career in the C-2 competition, with a school course and senior record time of 19:25.
