Board considers preschool expansion, after school program

web-11-22-preschoolPossible future expansion of the preschool program and a new after school program were discussion topics for the Boone Central School Board Monday night, Nov. 14.
Tim Hamilton, elementary principal, presented statistics on preschool enrollment this year, and projections for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 school years.
Additional cost of adding a preschool session was estimated at $57,000, mostly for salary costs and supplies.
The board took the matter under advisement.
Lindsey Jarecki, representing the childcare committee of the Boone County Area Foundation Fund (BCAFF), presented additional information on a proposed after school program for students. The program would be for K-5 students who need a place to be for up to 2 1/2 hours after school while their parents are working. Target cost is $5 per day per student.
Mrs. Jarecki presented the timeline that would need to be followed in order to start the program in the fall of 2017-18.
