Hosford back from national Voice of Democracy contest

As the Nebraska winner, he was escorted to the stage by Nebraska VFW Auxiliary Senior Vice President Jane Peterson, l., and Nebraska VFW commander Doug Whitaker, where they joined the national VFW and Auxiliary leaders and other contestants.
Thomas was the only finalist from a rural school. He placed 35th among the 54 contestants, and received a $1,500 college scholarship.
Thomas said he made many friends, and toured many points of interest in the nation’s capitol.
In June, Thomas will again join the other Voice of Democracy finalists through a VFW-sponsored program to visit additional historic sites including Philadelphia and Valley Forge in Pennsylvania.
