Area Vietnam vets will go on May 1 Honor Flight

web, 4-19, Vietnam vets honor flightMany Vietnam veterans from the Boone County area will be going on a special honor flight to Washington, DC, coming up on May 1.
The manifest is complete with 650 veterans for the May 1 Vietnam Veterans Flight. It will include veterans from 175 Nebraska communities, traveling with their comrades to visit the Vietnam Memorial Wall, possibly triggering memories they have pushed into the recesses of their minds for more than 40 years.
Some 18 Vietnam vets from the Boone County area will be attending. The area veterans and their branch of service are:
• Albion: Colin Koeppen, U.S. Navy;
• Petersburg: Ralph Pelster, U.S. Army;
• Primrose: Dennis Bittner, U.S. Army;
• St. Edward: Ronnie Benson, U.S. Navy; Gary Thompson, U.S. Navy;
• Bartlett: Fredrick Koinzan, U.S. Navy; Darrel Thorin, U.S. Marine Corps;
• Fullerton: Tom Delaney, U.S. Army; Albert Micek, U.S. Navy;
• Genoa: Gaylen Dannelly, U.S. Marine Corps; Dennis Frey, U.S. Navy; Stanley Tarnick, U.S. Army; Alan Zarek, U.S. Army;
• Lindsay: Alvin Korth, U.S. Army; Raymond Krings, U.S. Army; Patrick Schumacher, U.S. Air Force; Richard Weeder, U.S. Army;
• Newman Grove: Keith Jacobson, U.S. Army.
