Bonnie Carter Westring, 83, of Columbus, formerly of St. Edward and Genoa, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018, at the Brookstone Acres in Columbus.
Bonnie is survived by three children: JoEtta (Ron) Jarecke of Arlington; Ken Carter of Columbus; BJ (Lori) Carter of Columbus; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren: Matthew (Stacy) Nelson, Piper and Ryker of Arlington; Sarah (Matt) Scheer, Kynlea of Arlington; Hunter Carter (Hailee Sahs), Hudson and Harrison of Lincoln; Stormy Carter of Eugene, OR; Blake (Ariel) Carter of Crofton; Anthony Carter of Medford, OR; Ryan Carter of Columbus. five stepchildren: Laurie (Bob) Hrachovec of Wahoo; Missy Johnson of Lincoln; Rob (Brenda) Westring of Columbus; Darren (Sheila) Westring of Genoa; Kevin (Jane) Westring of Grandview, MO. 16 step grandchildren and 16 step great grandchildren: Samantha Dunn of Omaha; Josh (Jenna) Elm, Robert, Kiley, Greeleigh, Jaxson and Jaymason of Genoa; Aubrey (Nate) Smith, Avagail of Rapid City, SD; Jeremy Hrachovec of Rapid City, SD; Erica (Jeff) Kurtenbach, Owen and McKenzie of St. Edward; Derek Westring, Layla and Josie of Columbus; Kirk (April) Westring, Avery, Korbyn and Kambry of Humphrey; Meryl (Stephen) Lockling, Olivia and Nora of Topeka, KS; Ethan Johnson of Columbus; Sean Johnson of Columbus; Amanda Westring of Lincoln; Brady Westring of Columbus; Jacob, Zachary, Lucas and Amelia Westring of Grandview, MO; six sisters-in-law: Marlyce Harris of Stromsburg; Meredith Taylor of Rapid City, SD; Joyce Hopkins of Fort Meyer, FL; Jeaneal Engelke of Orlando, FL; Elaine Westring of Stromsburg; Janine Carter (Von) Schafer; nephew Kai Carter Schafer of Alaska; brothers-in-law: Jerry (Lyla) Carter of Beaver Lake; Jim Meridith of St. Edward; and many other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents: Merwin and Francis Adams; husbands: Billy Carter and Robert Westring; sister: Joyce Meridith; sister and brother-in-law: Margie and Earl Novotny; brothers-in-law and sisters–in-law: Woody (Willard) and Betty Mae Westring; Wayne and Bondene Westring; Jim Westring and Joan Westring.
Bonnie’s strong love of her family and concern for the well-being of others will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Augustana Lutheran Church in Genoa with Rev. Joshua Feala officiating. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery in St. Edward.
