Area businesses prepare applications for Downtown Revitalization Program

Building improvement planning is in the works for many downtown business owners, as they prepare applications for the Downtown Revitalization Program (DTR).
Deadline for applications is May 11.
DTR, which is a forgivable loan program, offers eligible businesses a maximum of $15,000 to improve its building façade.
Businesses are still receiving estimates and working with contractors, as the program requires that business owners submit project bids from two contractors along with their application.
Betsy Harris, owner of The Grey Haired Trout and Main Street Hardware, said if accepted she plans to use the money for a new awning and to replace the upper level windows in the hardware store.
“I think if all participate, it’d be amazing what it could like it,” Harris said. “I think this will inspire people to keep downtown looking nice.”
