The Albion Cornerstone Seniors scored all the runs they would need in the first inning and improved to 4-0 with an 8-0 whitewash of host Schuyler Sunday.
Carsten Bird, Dylan Gentrup and Caden Ranslem opened the contest with consecutive walks and scored runs on a sac fly, another base-on-balls and a ground out.
Cornerstone doubled its lead to 6-0 in the top of the second. Seth Wright drew a one-out walk, Bird followed with a walk, and Gentrup plated both with a base hit, then scored on a two-out single by Matt Schmitz.
Schuyler loaded the bases in the bottom of the second with a single, a batter hit-by-pitch and a Cornerstone error, but Gentrup induced a fly out to right to end the threat and earned the win after completing three scoreless innings.
Rasmussen stranded Schuyler baserunners at second and third in the fourth inning, and Ranslem came on in the fifth to record the final out with the bases loaded.
The Albion Seniors ended the contest with final runs in the fourth and fifth frames. Gentrup singled to lead off the top of the fourth and scored via a stolen base and two Schuyler miscues. He drew a one-out walk in the fifth and came around to score with the help of a Ranslem single and another Schuyler error.
