Cops & Bobbers provides great day of fishing for kids

Cael Bottorf shows off the bass he caught at Cops & Bobbers Saturday.

Saturday, June 9, was a big day for fishing at Stevenson’s Lake southwest of Petersburg.
Some 140 youth, up to age 15, were on hand with friends, parents and grandparents to participate in the third annual Boone County Cops & Bobbers Fishing Tournament.
It was a great weather for fishing.
Younger children were thrilled with any size fish they caught, but several hauled in bass weighing up to three and four pounds. All fish were weighed, measured and put back in the lake.
Prizes were awarded in each age group for the biggest fish caught. Age divisions were one to five years old, six to 10, and 11 to 15.
Deputy Mick Zabka, organizer of the fishing day for the past three years, thanked the Stevenson family for hosting the event.
