Through the first three days, action in the 2018 American Legion Class C Seniors State Baseball Tournament exhibited the quality expected at such an event.
A well-matched field of eight teams displayed plenty of diamond acumen, resulting in a number of close, exciting contests.
Day one featured one-run victories by Creighton and Pender, and Sunday’s final game saw Pender do it again, rallying with four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to upend Wilber 7-6. Meanwhile, defending state champion David City looked every bit a repeat threat with two weekend victories by a cumulative 20-3 margin and a third straight win Monday night.
The double-elimination event was scheduled to continue with two games Tuesday, and the championship is set to be decided Wednesday evening.
