The Albion Cornerstone Baseball Seniors kept searching for key hits this past weekend. Hits with runners on base. Hits with two outs. Hits with runners on base and two outs. Any hits.
Unfortunately for Cornerstone and local fans, those hits and the resulting potential runs were scarce during a pair of losses in the 2018 American Legion Class C Seniors State Baseball Tournament at Leon Nelson Memorial Field in Albion.
Albion (16-11) dropped an 8-3 decision to Wilber in its tourney opener Saturday after falling behind 3-0 in the first inning. Two DCB pitchers then shackled Cornerstone Sunday, allowing the local Seniors just three hits in a 5-1 defeat.
