Cardinal sophomore Abby Brodersen captured the gold medal in the West Holt Invitational at Atkinson Thursday, as the Boone Central girls golf team placed fourth in the eight-team field.
The Cardinals compiled a team score of 490, finishing four strokes in front of host West Holt. Valentine won the team title with a score of 428, followed by Hartington Cedar Catholic (451).
Brodersen fired nine-hole rounds of 42/46 to lead all players. Her 88 total was five strokes better than runner-up Sydney Erickson of Pierce (93). Boone Central’s Ashley Mewhirter took the final individual medal, placing 15th with an 18-hole total of 117.
Along with Brodersen and Mewhirter, Lauren Kohtz (136) and Ava Frey (149) helped comprise Boone Central’s team score. Lilly Reel finished with a 187.
