The Boone Central/Newman Grove Cardinals concluded their 2018 volleyball campaign in the C1-8 Sub-District tournament Monday, losing a first-round match to #1 seed and state-rated Scotus.
The Cardinals had some successful stretches during the contest, but a talented Scotus squad prevailed in a 25-16, 25-11, 25-17 sweep.
Boone Central/Newman Grove (3-26) recorded 24 kills in the match, with Kylee Rasmussen (6) leading a balanced attack. Caitlin Nelson had five kills, while Kelsey Thompson, Carsen Grape and Natalee Luettel chipped in four apiece.Paige Nelson directed the Card offense with 16 assists and McKenna Haase registered seven. Caitlin Nelson also made three blocks, and dig leaders were Thompson (12), Marysa Duerksen (10), Paige Nelson (8) and Haase (6).
