Big Give total higher this year

With final tallies still pending, the fifth annual Boone County Big Give listed a total of $152,197 in donations by Monday, Dec. 3.
The number of gifts was down some from last year at 1,028 gifts, but the total given was more than $20,000 higher than last year at the same point.
The Big Give was again considered very successful. It set a record for the number of participating organizations, with 27 from throughout the county.
Also, there were more corporate sponsors this year than ever before, with 15 total.
In addition to the individual gifts given Nov. 26 through Dec. 1, sponsor dollars are awarded to each participating organization or project after the Big Give expenses are paid.
The sponsor dollars are based on the number of individual gifts received by each project, so they could increase the totals substantially.
Preliminary totals for individual Big Give organizations and projects are in the Dec. 5 issue of the Albion News and Petersburg Press.
