Monda Helen (Labenz) Karmann, 90, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, Dec. 7, 2018 at the Heritage at Meridian Gardens in Columbus.
She is survived by her 13 children: Daniel of Columbus, Nancy of Columbus, Gene of Cedar Rapids, Steve (Renita) of Cedar Rapids, Shirley (Gary) Wachal of Richland, Paul (Kaye) of Columbus, Melodee (Dave) Hadaway of Platte Center, Pam of California, Jon (Becci) of Cedar Rapids, Jim (Sharon) of Albion, Kathleen (Greg) Cyza of Columbus and Sandra (Jon) Goode of Stanton; aister Mary Angela (Karen) of Lincoln; 23 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sister Donna Lee Merten of Albion, sisters-in-law Rosie Labenz, Mary Lou Labenz and Marianne Karmann, all of Albion; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Monda was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wilfred, infant daughters Helen Claire and Darlene Rose; daughter-in-law Shelly Karmann; four brothers: Sylvester, Leonard, Raymond, and Merlin; sister Lillian Liss; brother-in-law Duane Karmann; sisters-in-law Mary and Pauline Labenz and Wilma Karabel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids with Msgr. Ralph Steffensmeier officiating. Burial will follow at Sunrise Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with a 7 p.m. wake service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested for masses at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
