City sales tax lower in October

Albion city sales tax receipts for October 2018 totaled $55,217, a decline of eight percent or $4,600 from the October 2017 total of $59,819.
This was the fourth consecutive month-to-month decline as compared to the previous year.
Total city sales tax receipts for the first quarter of the 2018-19 fiscal year (August through October) stood at $170,619, a decline of nearly $10,000 or 5.5 percent from last year’s first quarter total of $180,5987.
The projected 2018-19 total sales tax receipts were reduced to $685,000. If the projected total is realized, it would be the first time in four years that annual sales tax receipts have been below $700,000.
Motor vehicle sales tax receipts were stronger in October 2018, at $4,296, which was slightly over $1,000 more than the September total of $3,291.
