Nelce Andrew Martinsen, 85, of Burwell, formerly of Primrose, passed away on Friday, Jan. 11, 2019 at the Valley County Health System Hospital in Ord. Nelce is survived by four children Dr. Chris (Kristina) of Eureka, KS, Charles (Beth) of O’Neill, Cary (Holly) of Rainier, WA, and Chad (Jamie) Martinsen of Elgin; nine grandchildren Alexis (Steve) Vellek of Tabor, SD, Clara (Jacob) Schankie of Madison, KS, Neal (Lindsey) Martinsen of Hickman, Lynnze Martinsen of Jackson Hole, WY, Bradley Martinsen of St. Paul, Adam Martinsen of Wayne, Kaylee, Brenna, and Braelyn Martinsen of Elgin; five great grandchildren (two more due in January and July); sister Margaret (George) Christensen of Grand Island and brother Richard (Cheryl) Martinsen of Albion, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marilyn in 2010, and brother Ronald Martinsen.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Church of Christ in Burwell with Rev. Alan Petersen officiating. Masonic services will be conducted by the Blazing Star Lodge of Burwell. Burial will be at Dublin Cemetery, Primrose, with military rites conducted by the Primrose American Legion Post 347, Dan Cox American Legion Post 44 of Cedar Rapids, Navy Funeral Honors, and the American Legion Riders.
