Council approves resolution on community center project

At its monthly meeting Monday night, March 4, the St. Edward City Council adopted a conditional resolution on construction of the new community center building.
The resolution authorizes construction pending sufficient funds being raised.
The city is still awaiting word on a $562,000 grant application from the Nebraska Civic and Community Finance Fund.
Also, a private fund-raising campaign has a goal of raising $300,000 for the building. The city is working to establish an account with the Nebraska Community Foundation, which would make all contributions tax deductible.
Clean-Up Days Set
Spring Clean-Up Days for St. Edward were set for April 26-27, 2019, with dumpsters to be available at the city shop on South Seventh Street.
The council accepted a bid from Jarecki Lawncare and Greenhouse of Albion for the four-step lawncare and aeration of the football field. Total cost for the service will be $3,155.
The council also accepted a bid from Complete Pest Elimination of Newman Grove for weekly mosquito control spraying, June through September. Total cost for spraying, with discount, is $2,394.
