Cards beat weather, foes in WSC indoor track/field

Track and field teams found a way to foil uncooperative Mother Nature Saturday, competing in the Wayne State College High School DI Meet at the Wayne State Rec Center.
The Boone Central/Newman Grove Cardinals used the early-season test to good advantage, recording six first-place performances and a number of place-winning efforts.
“The kids competed really well and brought home six gold medals and 32 total medals,” Cardinal Coach Justin DeWitt acknowledged.
Senior Jett Stuhr mined dual gold, with victories in the 400 meter dash (57.18) and triple jump (39’9.5). Senior Jon Merten (49’) led a 1-2 shot put finish for the Cardinals, with senior teammate Dalton Rasmussen (48’8) scant inches behind. Sophomore Ryan Kramer posted BCNG’s other victory in boys competition, clearing 5’6 in the high jump.
