Home, Farm & Garden Show this weekend at fairgrounds

Final preparations are underway for the ninth annual Boone County Home, Farm & Garden Show, which is set for Saturday, March 23, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Boone County Fairgrounds.
A “sneak peek” will be held Friday, March 22, from 4 to 9 p.m., with a spaghetti feed.
On Saturday, displays and product booths will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. More than 65 vendors have booked booth spaces for the show.
This year, the show will be collecting donations for victims of the March 13-14 flooding in Boone County.
There will be a bake-off competition featuring banana nut bread, with entries due at 8:45 a.m.
Pit Boss Challenge barbecue contest will be held. People’s Choice voting in the barbecue contest will be from 12 noon to 2 p.m., with judging results and food sampling at 3 p.m.
A quilt display is also planned for the show, and children’s activities are also planned.
The show will use the Event Center and Casey building, as well as outdoor exhibits.
Workshops scheduled March 23 are:
• 9:30 a.m. — Low Water Landscapes by Elizabeth Killinger, UNL Extension educator;
• 11:30 a.m. — Nebraska Pork Producers by Chef Nader and Jane Stone;
• 1:30 p.m. — Trade Wars by Wes Peterson, UNL Ag Economist.
