Wallin opens dog grooming business in Newman Grove

NEW ADVENTURE — Becky Wallin of Newman Grove shows off her new business sign.

As one door closed, another door opened for Newman Grove native Becky Wallin, who recently established her own grooming business, Wallin Wash and Groom, while transitioning out of her long time job at Lindsay Corporation, as the finance department moved to an Omaha location.
For 25 years, Wallin bred dogs, but recently stopped after selling the location to her daughter and son-in-law, Sheana and Alex Banks, who opened Banks Boarding.
“That was tough on me, as I loved the animals so much,” Wallin said. “Sheana mentioned to me that she has had a lot of people ask her if she would bathe the dogs when they come to pick them up, so she mentioned it to me to see if I would be interested in a grooming shed.”
After agreeing to the concept, Wallin attended a grooming school in Springfield, MO last fall.
By the end of November 2018, Wallin was grooming a couple dogs every day after work and on Saturdays to build up a clientele before she finished her job at Lindsay in April.
The business, located at 82320 536 Ave. in Newman Grove, offers nail trimming, baths, blow outs, cuts and anal glands cleaning.
Prices vary depending on the size of the dog.
Wallin Wash and Groom is open during the day and can accommodate for those who have difficult schedules.
Wallin said this is a big change for her, but she looks forward to meeting all of her new clients. “I have not met a rude person yet and everyone is so nice at giving me a chance,” Wallin said. “My number one statement to people is to please make sure to be honest with me if you don’t like the cut, so that I can learn.”
