Comprehensive plan is tool to guide city’s development

Jeffrey Ray of JEO Consulting Group visits with Tammy Nolan during an information meeting on the comprehensive plan Tuesday evening, April 23.

Information is now being gathered for Albion’s comprehensive plan, which will be an information and management tool for city officials and community leaders to use in considering future development.
The updated comprehensive plan will record where Albion has been, where it is now, and where it likely will be in the future, according to Lynn Dittmer, senior planner with JEO Consulting Group.
Dittmer has guided the information gathering phase of the planning process. Jeffrey Ray, planning manager with JEO, will now complete the process with the city.
The comprehensive plan is not a static document; it should evolve as changes in land-use, population, or local economy occur during the planning period. This information is the basis for the next phase in achieving physical, social and economic goals.
This plan is being prepared under the direction of the Albion City Council and the Albion Planning Commission, with participation by local residents.
